Temporary Dutch Deployment Concludes

The temporary deployment of four Dutch staff officers, which began on 14 January 2013, concluded on 1 February 2015.

The MFO greatly appreciates the specialized expertise of the personnel from the Netherlands Royal Maréchaussée who provided technical support in these four positions, two in the area of force protection and two in policing, throughout the period of this temporary deployment.

The Netherlands remains fully engaged in the MFO mission of peace as a key Donor State; a role it took on starting in MFO Fiscal Year 2006.

Supplemental German Funding

The MFO is pleased to announce that the Federal Republic of Germany, a long-standing Donor State, has made available additional funding of €287,000 in order to support urgent force protection works at the MFO's North Camp for the construction of immediate-access concrete personnel shelters at various well-trafficked locations on the camp.

This is part of a larger series of protective measures necessitated by stray rounds coming onto the camp due to fighting in the vicinity. The project is now underway and is expected to be completed by June 2015. This additional German funding is very welcome and is expected to cover all the costs of strategically locating concrete shelters on the camp to keep our personnel as safe as possible.

The MFO is very grateful for this generous and timely additional financial support.

The Republic of Korea Agrees to Provide a Contribution to the MFO

The MFO is pleased to announce that the Republic of Korea has communicated its decision to provide $300,000 in funding to the MFO for the current Fiscal Year (2015).

The MFO and both Treaty Parties are very thankful for this show of support to the organization and to the MFO’s mission of peace. Effective today, the Republic of Korea becomes a most welcome additional member of the family of MFO Donor States.

In the course of his visit to the Republic of Korea, on 16 April 2015, the MFO's Director General, David Satterfield, expressed his thanks for the Korean Government's contribution to MFO funding. Reporting on his visit may be found here.
