Extension of MFO Force Commander, MG Warren J. Whiting, for a fourth year

The Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers, Ambassador David M. Satterfield, is pleased to announce the extension of service of the Force Commander, MG Warren J. Whiting, until 1 March 2014.   This extension provides for a cumulative four years of service by MG Whiting to the Force and Observers, and to the Parties to the Treaty of Peace, Egypt and Israel, who have both approved this extension.

Director General Satterfield stated:

"The MFO is busier than it has ever been in the service of the Treaty Parties, and in this period of historic political transition in Egypt and unprecedented security challenges in the Sinai, continuity in the leadership of the Force and Observers is an invaluable asset to the MFO and to the Parties. I am pleased that MG Whiting has agreed to extend his service and that the Parties have fully concurred in the wisdom of this step. I thank the Government of New Zealand for continuing to make MG Whiting available for this critical responsibility."

The Government of New Zealand also has released a statement on MG Whiting's extension of service as the MFO Force Commander, which can be found here.
