Extension of MG Whiting as MFO Force Commander for a third year

The MFO and the Government of New Zealand, on 22 August 2011, concluded an agreement extending the service of MG Warren Whiting as MFO Force Commander for an additional year, until 1 March 2013. The Governments of Egypt and Israel had previously advised the MFO Director General, David M. Satterfield, of their approval of this extension.

Ambassador Satterfield stated that 'this is very positive news for the MFO and our mission of peace', and that 'MG Whiting has continued to provide the Force and the Observers with steady and experienced leadership at a time when the role of the MFO is viewed by many observers as more important than ever'.
