The United Kingdom Becomes an MFO Donor State

The MFO has been advised that the United Kingdom will be joining the ranks of MFO Donor States pursuant to a decision by the MENA AP/CP Strategic Programme Board  of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to provide £250,000 of funding to the MFO.

This will be credited as a contribution in the MFO Fiscal Year (FY) 2013, and UK FY 2012-2013.  The Director General of the MFO, Ambassador David Satterfield, welcomed this expression of both political and fiscal support for the MFO mission.  He stated that "The United Kingdom was a Participating State in the MFO from 1982-1992, and we are pleased to welcome the United Kingdom back into the MFO community of supporting states.  The MFO is intensively engaged, more than at any time in its existence, with the Parties in the service of the Treaty of Peace, and this recognition of both the importance of our peacekeeping mission and of the compelling case for broadening our sources of funding is timely and appreciated."
