Death of former MFO Force Commander - LTG Bull-Hansen

It is with profound sadness that MFO has learned of the death March 1, 2018, of its first Force Commander, LTG Fredrik V. Bull-Hansen of Norway.

LTG Bull-Hansen had a long and distinguished military and peacekeeping career, including service in Norway as chief at the Army’s staffing school from 1973 to 1975, Chief of Intelligence Staff in 1977, and in 1979 as General and Commander of the Land Forces in Northern Norway.  He saw peacekeeping service with the UNEF in Egypt in 1956-57.

For a fourth year in a row Japan will provide the MFO with exceptional supplemental force protection funding

Japan has advised the MFO that it will again provide supplemental funding in support of urgent force protection efforts. These funds go a long way in aiding the MFO to continue its mission of peace and confidence-building in the midst of ongoing security challenges.

Ambassador R. Stephen Beecroft has been appointed the MFO’s new Director General by Egypt and Israel and will assume his post in mid-September. He succeeds Ambassador David M. Satterfield who has served as Director General since 1 July 2009.
