MFO Force Commander Designate – Major General Michael Garraway

The MFO is honored to announce that it has received Egypt’s and Israel’s approval to appoint Major General Michael Garraway from Australia as the MFO’s next Force Commander.

Major General Garraway will assume command of the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai on 17 March 2024 from Major General Evan Williams of New Zealand who will relinquish command after nearly four years of distinguished service.

Major General Garraway will serve as the MFO’s fifteenth Force Commander and the third from Australia.

Most recently, Major General Garraway served as the Chief of Staff of the 2nd (Australian) Division in Sydney. He has had an excellent record of serving in command positions in the Australian Army and has served several tours on foreign operations as well as senior appointments providing support during times of national crises, including Australia’s historic bushfires, floods, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Major General Garraway is married and has two children.
