MFO Honors Service and Sacrifice

On November 11, 2025, members of the MFO gathered across South Camp and North Camp to commemorate Remembrance Day, Veterans Day, and the fifth anniversary of the 400 Romeo helicopter tragedy. United in purpose, personnel paused to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nations and in the pursuit of peace.

At the eleventh hour, both camps fell silent for two minutes. This act reflects a solemn tradition observed worldwide since the end of the First World War. During this moment of reflection, MFO personnel paid tribute to all who have fallen in conflict, from the battlefields of the past to today’s peacekeeping missions, including those who gave their lives serving with the MFO.

This year’s ceremony carried special significance as the mission marked five years since the loss of seven MFO members in the 400 Romeo helicopter tragedy of 2020. Their memory is deeply woven into the fabric of the organization; an enduring reminder of the courage, dedication, and risks inherent in peacekeeping service. Their legacy continues to inspire the MFO community to uphold the mission’s values of cooperation, vigilance, and peace.

The commemoration also honored all MFO members who lost their lives while in service with the mission. Each one representing a testament to the enduring spirit of international cooperation and a shared commitment to peace. Their service continues to inspire those who carry on the mission today.

The ceremony further paid tribute to veterans worldwide, whose resilience and strength, often in the face of lasting wounds, both seen and unseen, embody the same principles of service, sacrifice, and solidarity that unite the MFO community.

As wreaths were laid and silence observed, the ceremony reaffirmed a shared commitment: to remember the fallen, to support those who serve, and to continue striving for peace in their honor.

Lest we forget.
