Supplemental Japanese Funding in FY2025

The MFO is pleased to announce the Government of Japan’s decision to once again contribute supplemental project funding to ensure the safety of our personnel and the effectiveness of our mission.

This year’s generous support, amounting to $503,597, will be used to improve force protection and safety measures at our Remote Site-3 (RS-3) in Sinai. When completed, this project will bring security and safety at RS-3 in line with protective measures at other MFO permanently staffed remote sites in Sinai. This will enable the MFO to safely continue conducting effective observation and reporting from one of our critical sites at the southern international boundary between Egypt and Israel.

This is the eleventh consecutive year that the Government of Japan has extended its financial support with supplemental funding in addition to its ongoing regular contribution towards food costs and civilian personnel salaries. In addition, Japan currently deploys four Japanese Self Defense Force personnel to the Sinai where they are actively engaged in our peacekeeping operations.

The MFO remains extremely grateful for the Government of Japan’s ongoing, stable, and wide-ranging support of our mission and peace between Egypt and Israel.
