Supporting States Visit - February 20, 2024

The MFO Interim Force Commander, Major General Evan Williams, and MFO personnel welcomed Ambassadors, Defense Attachés, and other key staff from Cairo-based embassies to the MFO’s North Camp.

More than 30 representatives from 17 MFO Supporting States (Albania, Australia, Canada, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States) and Denmark took part in the familiarization visit, accompanied by Mr. Brad Lynch, the MFO Director General’s Representative in Cairo (DGR-Cairo) and a representative from Egypt’s Liaison Agency with International Organizations.

The day focused on MFO Sinai capabilities that directly contribute to our Observe, Verify and Report responsibilities, including detailed briefings on the Civilian Observation Unit (COU), the Coastal Patrol Unit (CPU), and mission sustainment. Visitors were also able to meet with their respective country’s military contingent members, and donors could review projects including the MFO’s employment of local Sinai residents.

This allowed MFO Supporting State representatives to observe first-hand the important work they enable in support of peace between Egypt and Israel.

The MFO remains grateful to all its Supporting States for their generous contributions of military troops, equipment, and funds and welcomes the visits of their representatives.
