Supporting States Visit - July 11, 2024

The MFO Force Commander, Major General Michael Garraway, and MFO personnel welcomed Ambassadors, Defense Attachés, and other key staff from Israel-based embassies to the MFO’s North Camp.

24 representatives from 17 States that provide support or are considering donating to the MFO (Albania, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States) took part in the familiarization visit. They were accompanied by Mr. Thomas Goldberger, the MFO Director General’s Representative in Tel Aviv, his staff, and representatives from the Israel Defense Forces.

The day focused on MFO Sinai capabilities that directly contribute to our Observe, Verify and Report responsibilities, including detailed briefings on the Civilian Observation Unit, the Coastal Patrol Unit, and mission sustainment. Visitors were also able to meet with their respective country’s military contingent members, and donors reviewed projects including the MFO’s employment of local Sinai residents.

The visit allowed MFO Supporting State representatives to observe first-hand the important work they enable in support of peace between Egypt and Israel.

The MFO remains grateful to all its Supporting States for their generous contributions of military troops, equipment, and funds and welcomes the visits of their representatives.
