Latest Visits to the MFO

Visits are a crucial element in understanding the MFO, our mission, and our role in promoting regional peace and stability. These visits foster productive dialogue with our Egyptian and Israeli colleagues, representatives of MFO Troop-Contributing and Donor States, and friends. Importantly, visits also allow diplomatic staff and senior representatives the opportunity to visit their soldiers, sailors and aviators that contribute to the MFO mission.

From July through September, the MFO in Sinai had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests from the following nations:


July

  • Australia:  Deputy Head of Mission, Cairo, and Australian Defence Attaché to Amman: Mr. Sam Osborne and Group Captain Ian Goold attended the Australian Contingent Medals and Awards Parade.
  • Italy:  Italian Minister of Defense and Chief of the Navy: Mr. Guido Crosetto and Admiral Enrico Credendino visited the Coastal Patrol Unit and met with the Italian Contingent.
  • Denmark:  Ambassador Lars Bo Moeller visited North Camp to learn about the MFO mission and meet with senior leadership.

 

August

  • Japan:  Japanese State Minister for the Cabinet Office: Mr. Kiyoto Tsuli visited South Camp to meet the Japanese Contingent and tour facilities.
  • United States:  Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Central: Major General Michael Leeney visited Task Force Sinai and attended its Change of Command Ceremony.

 

September

  • Egypt:  Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies (Nasser Academy): Delegations from Egypt’s Higher War College and National Defense College, including Egyptian cadre and international students, visited the MFO to deepen their understanding of its mission and role in regional security.
  • Italy:  Minister Counselor Maria Michela Laroccia and Rear Admiral Stefano Costantino attended the Italian Contingent and Coastal Patrol Unit Change of Command Ceremonies, followed by a visit from Lieutenant General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, Commander of the Italian Joint Operations Command.
  • Uruguay:  Ambassador Adriana Lissidini honoured the Uruguayan Contingent during its Medals and Awards Ceremony.
  • Fiji:  Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces: Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai and his team visited the Fijian Contingent and received an update on MFO operations.

 

These visits reinforce the strong international partnerships essential to the success of the MFO mission. They exemplify the global dedication to peace and stability that the MFO embodies.

 

The MFO expresses gratitude to all its Supporting States and partners and looks forward to continuing such engagements in the future.
