United in purpose, personnel paused to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nations and in the pursuit of peace.

MFO COP27 Visits

Over the month of November 2022, youths, dignitaries, and Heads of State from all over the world visited Sharm El Sheikh to attend the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27). During this time, many representatives from MFO Troop Contributing and Donor States took the opportunity to visit us in the Sinai.

 

The MFO’s South Camp had the pleasure of hosting distinguished guests including the President of the Swiss Confederation, His Excellency Ignazio Cassis, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Petr Fiala, and the Australian Minister for Defence Industry, the Honorable Pat Conroy. In addition, the Uruguayan Minister of National Defense, Dr. Javier García and Commander of the Uruguayan Army, General Gerardo Fregosi visited both MFO Camps and remote sites. The MFO also hosted Fijian visitors who attended the COP27 Youth Conference along with Fijian representatives to the United Nations.


All visitors received briefings on the MFO’s mission and operations, toured facilities, and gained an understanding of the MFO’s contribution to the peace between Egypt and Israel. They were able to meet with their respective contingent personnel who displayed their skills and work undertaken in support of the MFO mission. In addition, Donor State representatives were able to witness first-hand their countries’ contributions and their positive impact on the MFO.
