DG Japanese IPC Visit to MFO

From 10 to 13 April 2023, the MFO was pleased to host a joint Japanese delegation, led by Mr. Takehiro Kano, the Director General of the Secretariat of the International Peace Cooperation (IPC) Headquarters, with representatives from the IPC and Ministry of Defense.

First, the delegation visited our South Camp, escorted by the MFO Director General’s Representative in Cairo, Mr. Brad Lynch. Afterwards, they convened with Mr. Lynch in Cairo before continuing their journey to the MFO’s headquarters in Rome where they met with our Director General, Ms. Elizabeth Dibble.

Director General Kano and his team travelled to meet with deployed Japanese personnel in Sinai in addition to learning more about MFO operations and how the MFO mission contributes to peace in the region. During the visit, Mr. Kano received from the MFO’s Force Commander, Major General Pavel Kolář, a strategic briefing which outlined the status of the current Sinai operational environment, and he also was briefed by the Force Commander’s staff on MFO activities.

In Rome, Director General Dibble thanked the delegation for Japan’s longstanding sponsorship of the MFO mission. She discussed the MFO’s ongoing responsibilities in fostering peace between the Treaty Parties and emphasized the value the MFO placed on Japan’s broad support on many levels: politically, diplomatically, and through the provision of personnel and funds.
