Japan-funded fire truck welcomed into MFO Fleet

The MFO officially inducted a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle, funded by the Government of Japan, into the Force’s fleet on 11 July 2023 in North Camp. In attendance at the ceremony was the Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, His Excellency Oka Hiroshi. He was accompanied by the MFO’s Force Commander, Major General Pavel Kolář, Force Fire Chief, Mr. Innes Southard, and the Director General’s Representative in Cairo, Mr. Brad Lynch.

The new fire truck is equipped with the latest firefighting technology as well as ancillary fire response support equipment to bolster the MFO’s emergency services. Most critically, it will provide the North Camp airfield with improved firefighting response capabilities for air operations, a critical component of the MFO mission in the Sinai.

The MFO heartily thanks the Government of Japan for this financial contribution in addition to its ongoing regular contribution towards food costs and civilian personnel salaries. We are tremendously grateful for the solid and wide-ranging support Japan provides, in funding and personnel, towards our peacekeeping mission and peace between Egypt and Israel.
