Japan-funded Armored Bus Welcomed into MFO Fleet

The MFO officially inducted a new armored bus, funded by the Government of Japan, into our vehicle fleet on 22 July 2024. In attendance at the ceremony held at our South Camp was the Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Oka Hiroshi. He was accompanied by the MFO’s Force Commander, Major General Michael Garraway, and our Director General’s Representative in Cairo, Mr. Brad Lynch.

Latest Visits to the MFO

Visits are a crucial element to understanding the MFO, our mission, and our role in promoting regional peace and stability. These visits result in productive dialogue with our Egyptian and Israeli colleagues, representatives of MFO Troop-Contributing and Donor States, and friends.

Recently, the MFO family had the privilege and pleasure of hosting the following guests among many others:

 

  • Military Officers from Egypt’s Nasser Military Academy for Postgraduate Studies: On September 25, 2023, approximately 70 Military Officers from seven different countries, currently attending the Nasser Military Academy for Postgraduate Studies, accompanied by Academy staff, visited South Camp for a familiarization trip.
  • Rear-Admiral Fabio Agostini: From September 13 to 15, 2023, the Deputy Chief of Staff Plan and Exercises of the Italian Command for Joint Operations, Rear-Admiral Fabio Agostini, visited South Camp to attend the Italian Coastal Patrol Unit medals and awards parade, and change of command ceremony, as the guest of honor.
  • General Luis Mauricio Ospina Gutiérrez: On August 31, 2023, the Commander of the Colombian Army, General Luis Mauricio Ospina Gutiérrez, visited both South and North Camps, to reaffirm Colombia’s commitment to the MFO mission and spend time with Colombia’s troops serving in Sinai.
  • Mr. Yoshiaki Wada: On August 22, 2023, the Japanese State Minister of Cabinet, Mr. Yoshiaki Wada, visited South Camp, to meet with the Japanese Contingent and reaffirm Japan’s commitment to the MFO mission.

 

Mr. Wada and General Ospina also visited with the MFO’s Director General in Rome as part of their travels.

 

The MFO remains grateful to all our Supporting States and welcomes visits from their representatives.
