The MFO was honored to hold a plenary meeting in Rome on 26 January 2023 for its Supporting States.
The MFO’s Director General, Ms. Elizabeth L. Dibble, and Force Commander, Major General Evan Williams (New Zealand), provided Supporting State representatives with an update on MFO activities and finances during our Financial Year 2022 (1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022). They also highlighted ongoing and future initiatives including expanding dialogue between the Treaty Parties, Egypt and Israel, promoting diversity and the role of women, and greening initiatives to include more efficient waste management programs at our locations in Sinai.
Representatives from nineteen MFO Supporting States, including delegations from Egypt, Israel, and the United States, participated in the plenary meeting.
Director General Dibble thanked the representatives for their trust and confidence, for their generous commitments, and for entrusting the MFO with their personnel “who do so much to ensure the MFO is able to carry out its mission.” She also thanked MG Williams for his service with the MFO since December 2019 and read the citation from the Distinguished Service for Peace Award, the MFO’s highest honor, which will be presented to him in March at the upcoming Force Commander’s Change of Command Ceremony. Director General Dibble also introduced Supporting State representatives to the Force Commander Designate, Brigadier General-Promotable Pavel Kolář from the Czech Republic and welcomed him to the MFO.
