Mrs. Germaine (Gerry) Elias, retired from our Cairo Office at the end of June 2023 after 29 devoted years with the MFO. Her incredible service to peace throughout this time has not only left a lasting impact on the MFO, but also inspired her colleagues.
Gerry joined the MFO intent on making a difference and always excelled at her work. She started as a Procurement Assistant in 1994 and quickly became known for her diligent organizational skills. Subsequently, she worked tirelessly in various capacities and was deservedly promoted to Logistics and Procurement Specialist in December of 2010. Throughout, her dedication to the MFO's mission was evident in every aspect of her work.
Upon retirement, Gerry’s letter of service summarized her remarkable career with the MFO: “Germaine has served as a beacon of diversity and her tenure as one of the longest serving women in peacekeeping, has made her a role model for young women who wish to pursue the profession of peace. With over 29 years of selfless service, Cairo’s Procurement and Logistics Office has thrived with Germaine’s know-how and dedication.”
The MFO family is extremely grateful to Gerry for her many years of dedication and hard work and wishes her all the best.
