Latest Visits to the MFO

Visits are a crucial element in understanding the MFO, our mission, and our role in promoting regional peace and stability. These visits foster productive dialogue with our Egyptian and Israeli colleagues, representatives of MFO Troop-Contributing and Donor States, and friends. Importantly, visits also allow diplomatic staff and senior representatives the opportunity to visit their soldiers, sailors and aviators that contribute to the MFO mission.

MFO Remembrance Events 2023

On November 11 and 12, 2023, MFO Sinai members participated in two solemn commemoration events at South and North Camp, to honor and remember the Fallen who gave their lives in service for their countries and in support of peace.

On November 11, Remembrance (Armistice) Day, at the eleventh hour, MFO members paid respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during and since the First World War, as well as those who lost their lives in the service of peace with the MFO. That same night, members gathered for an Armistice Day reception and dinner, organized by the Serbian Contingent.

On November 12, the MFO commemorated the third anniversary of the 400R helicopter crash that claimed the lives of seven MFO members in 2020. Their tragic loss is still deeply felt within the MFO and at home. At South Camp the Counsellor of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, Mr. Josef Bernátek, along with the Czech Republic Defence Attaché assistant, Chief Warrant Officer Radek Pánek, attended the event.

On both days, MFO members observed a minute of silence and honored all Veterans and those who sacrificed greatly to protect and defend peace and prosperity.

Moreover, we are reminded that many soldiers return from conflicts not only wounded in body but also in soul and too many never recover.

We shall always honor the bravery and courage of those who served before us.

Lest we forget.
