Raising Suicide Prevention Awareness

Every year, on September 10th, people around the world mark Suicide Prevention Day, recognized as an event aimed at spreading awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues and suicidal feelings. This day also provides a forum for people to talk about the causes that lead to suicide and promote support networks and mental health well-being.

As part of the campaign to raise awareness about Suicide Prevention Day, on August 24, 2023, the Force Behavioral Health Office organized an inaugural meeting for MFO Sinai members at our South Camp. The aim was to unite sentinels from various contingents and foster an environment for open dialogue about mental health challenges and suicide prevention strategies.

The awareness meeting offered a safe space for individuals to share personal stories, experiences, and insights related to mental health and suicide prevention. Participants were educated about the warning signs of suicidal ideation, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, and seeking proactive help. The event had a significant impact by promoting open discussions and advising participants about the resources available to support MFO Sinai members. It will be the first among many similar meetings and related events.

The MFO stands committed to its mission to promote peace and encourage dialogue. We are also committed to educating our own people to engage in open dialogue, so that we can support those who may be struggling and save lives together.
