Supporting States Visit – June 7, 2023

The MFO Force Commander, Major General Pavel Kolář, and MFO personnel welcomed Ambassadors, Defense Attachés, and other key staff from Israel-based Embassies to the MFO’s South Camp.

Thirty-one representatives from fifteen MFO Supporting States (Australia, Canada, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay) took part in the familiarization visit, accompanied by Mr. Thomas Goldberger, the MFO Director General’s Representative in Tel Aviv, and his supporting staff.

The day focused on MFO Sinai capabilities that directly contribute to our Observe, Verify, and Report responsibilities, including detailed briefings on the Italian-provided Coastal Patrol Unit, our Civilian Observation Unit, and Remote Site operations. Visitors were also able to meet with their respective country’s military contingent members, and donors could review projects and plans that benefit from their valuable support. This allowed MFO Supporting State representatives to observe first-hand the important work they enable in support of peace between Egypt and Israel.

The MFO remains grateful to all its Supporting States for their generous contributions of military troops, equipment, and funds and welcomes the visits of their representatives.
