Thanking Our Women Peacekeepers and Celebrating IWD

The MFO thanks all its women peacekeepers, military and civilian, for their contributions to our mission and the critical role they play supporting peace and cooperation between Egypt and Israel. Our women peacekeepers excel in carrying out critical responsibilities at all levels throughout the MFO. Their work is fundamental to our success and an integral part of our achievements.

To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) in Sinai, MFO personnel came together on March 7, 2024, for a series of events at our South Camp. This year’s IWD theme is “Inspire Inclusion.”

The day started with a relaxing yoga session facing the Red Sea as the sun rose over the Sinai Peninsula. Later in the afternoon, MFO members gathered to listen to speakers share their personal experiences and discuss important topics related to gender issues and how to inspire inclusion. This panel discussion was followed by a self-defense lesson.

The day finished on a high note with a dinner gathering. The guest speaker for this event was New Zealand’s Ambassador to Egypt, Her Excellency Amy Laurenson. Ambassador Laurenson spoke about the importance of inclusion in today’s workplace.

The MFO is committed to further developing, supporting, and incorporating women into all aspects of our peacekeeping and confidence-building mission.
